Our History
Spreo Safaris takes its name from the Spreo superbus, once known as the Superb Starling - a bird as ordinary as it is extraordinary. In the village where our founder grew up, elders spoke of it as a symbol of brilliance and hope: its shimmering blues and greens were said to herald good harvests and joyful gatherings, and spotting one near your home was believed to bring good luck. We chose the name because it captures exactly what we want every journey to feel like - an everyday landscape, seen the right way, revealing itself as something rare and luminous.
Fittingly, Superb Starlings are also survivors, known to live more than fifteen years - a quiet nod to the resilience and endurance we bring to every safari we craft across East and Southern Africa.
